About
“I fell in love with painting the first time I squeezed the oil paint out of the tube and put a brush to canvas.”
I fell in love with oil painting the first time squeezed the oil paint out of the tube and put a brush to the canvas. Today, decades later, I am still in awe of how colors and shapes influence each other and speak to you.
I paint to help me understand the world around me and translate complex ideas into an abstract form. I like to get intimate with the subject. My process begins with extensive experiential research. I then use my internal responses to my findings and intuitively paint thru my reactions to it. The imagery that comes forth is an elusive answer to my initial inquisition.
Each painting is like a new relationship. It takes a while to understand it, learn to listen to it, and then allow it to take me where it needs to go. In the end, there is nothing more satisfying then the moment you realize you have touched upon the thing you were attempting to find and captured it in color, line and shape.
